Description: This mosaic depicts Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., addressing a large audience at the Freedom Rally in Los Angeles in 1963. If you’d like to listen to the “We Want to be Free” speech that MLK delivered that day, it can be found here, on Michelle Ngome’s website.

Inspiration: I was inspired to learn more about MLK and the social justice movement, when I found the amazing photo by Julian Wasser that inspired this mosaic. As I created this mosaic I listened  to Dr. King’s sermons and as I listened and created, I often felt like a member of the audience at the rally.
