"Coach"
Description: This LEGO mosaic depicts University of Michgan coaching legend, Lloyd Carr. Lloyd Carr was head coach of the Wolverines between 1995-2007, and led his teams to five big Big Ten Championships and the 1997 National Championship.
Inspiration: This mosaic was created for the benefit of the ChadTough Foundation. The mission of the ChadTough Foundation is to help patients and families by funding game-changing research and providing navigation throughout their DIPG/DMG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma/Diffuse Midline Glioma) journey. The vision of the ChadTough Foundation is a world where kids diagnosed with DIPG/DMG can have bright futures and can live out their dreams.
Size: ~5,500 LEGO bricks, 30″ x 30″
Hours to build: ~100 (completed in 2023). This mosaic was extremely challenging due to the many subtle skin tones. Lloyd Carr kindly autographed this artwork.
This LEGO mosaic was live-auctioned at the 2023 ChadTough Gala event, where it brought in a winning bid of $10,000 (a photo of the winning bidder with his spoils is shown at the bottom). A highlight of this experience was meeting Coach Carr in person! He was so kind!
