“Watchful”

Description: This is a LEGO mosaic of a Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus), built as a commission.

Inspiration: Owls are fascinating creatures with amazing hearing and vision. It was challenging to recreate the owl’s soft feathers using geometric LEGO bricks, but when viewed from a distance, the illusion is convincing.

Size: ~12,000 LEGO bricks, 50″ x 50″

Hours to create: ~100 (completed in 2020)
